The 3rd mainline entry, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, is a standalone story and a soft reboot of the series, distinct from the Danganronpa 3 anime conclusion of the Hope’s Peak saga. We return to a school-like setting—the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles—which features an overgrown, prison-like atmosphere. Instead of solely dealing with Monokuma, we are introduced to the Monokubs, who pilot giant mechs called Exisals to enforce the rules. The game also features a Casino where you can play various minigames to earn Casino Coins for prizes and skills.

Use this strategy to efficiently clear the Ultimate Talent Development Plan (UTDP)
- Rarity Focus: Always use U-Rarity cards. Lower-tier cards have stat caps that prevent them from succeeding in late-game Monokuma’s Test dungeons.
- The "Fail" Loop: Prioritize Blue (Level Up) tiles. Intentionally miss the Year-End Goal to force entry into the Despair Course, which bypasses time-consuming exam sequences.
- Surgery Safeguard: When a character is below level 60, accept the Monokub Surgery. Save your game before accepting. If the surgery fails, reload your save to avoid the permanent stat penalty.
- Efficiency Controls: Hold R1 to fast-forward through dialogue and stat-gain animations to maximize your turns per hour.
Here is a Gift Guide.

Here is a Guide.
Slap every object you can when you first walk into a room, you may get monocoins.
To get an S-Rank you need 20k points. Focus on combos rather than speed, combos give a score multiplier.
You need a score of 4.7k. Monokuma asks for fish in partners which cycle, memorize the patterns. Acuuracy over speed, if you catch the wrong fish your combo ends. Catch Mododam for 1000 points boost and he ends the current request.
You need a score of 4.9k points.
- The Mandatory Rule: You must uncover both Monokubs. If you miss even one, the S-Rank is mathematically impossible.
- Color Cycle Awareness: Blocks cycle in a fixed order: Gray > Pink > Yellow > Blue > Gray. Always count your moves. Before you click a cluster, calculate exactly what colors the surrounding tiles will become to ensure you don't accidentally isolate them.
- Don't Rush the Middle: Starting in the middle creates "dead zones" where you can't reach certain blocks later. Start from the edges and corners to keep your board connected.
- The "Connectedness" Principle: Never let a block become completely isolated from the rest of the board. If a block is trapped, it's a wasted space. Before you break a group, ensure the remaining blocks have enough "neighbors" that they can eventually be linked and cleared.
- Strategic Patience: It is not like Candy Crush. You aren't clearing the board to clear it; you are clearing the board to *reveal* hidden items. Sometimes it is better to take a sub-optimal move just to keep a section of the board "alive" while you hunt for the Monokubs.
This is pure RNG. Put the Max Bet and good luck.
Play your favourite Casino Minigame and get gerinding.
Refuse to Vote in the final trial.
- Rarity is Key: Focus on obtaining U-rarity cards via the Death Card Machine; they provide the highest stat multipliers.
- The "Double Square" Strategy: Save your Double Square cards for 2x Talent or Friendship tiles to maximize stat gains.
- The Save-Scum Protocol: Quit and reload to bypass failed surgery events or bad dice rolls.
- Endgame Loop: Train characters in UTDP → Clear floors in Monokuma’s Test → Earn coins → Buy more cards → Repeat for higher rarity.
1. How to Trigger the Exam
- Progress through all three school years (3 loops on the board).
- To trigger the exam, you must reach the "Start" tile at the end of your 3rd year.
- If you land on the "Start" tile with turns remaining, you will be prompted to take the exam.
2. The Exam Structure
- The Final Exam consists of 3 consecutive battles against waves of Monokumas.
- You do not heal between waves.
- You must win all 3 battles to pass the exam and unlock the trophy.
3. Preparation Tips
- Rarity Matters: Use an S or U-Rank card to ensure your base stats are high enough to survive three waves without healing.
- Skill Loadout: Equip skills that boost Critical Hit Rate or Attack Power.
- The "Pass" Condition: You do not need an S-Rank on the exam itself; you only need to clear it to pop the trophy.
Please see New Kid on Campus for tips.
Floor 10 Boss: Tactical Breakdown
- Party Balance: Ensure you have at least one Sports type (for physical damage), one Intelligence type (for magic damage), and one Variety type (for support).
- The Variety Essential: Your Variety character is your lifeline. They should have at least Recover Influence (Heal) and ideally Fighting Spirit (Revive).
- Focus Management: Don't spam your strongest attacks on the first turn. Use "Absorb Focus" if you have it, or conserve your Focus points for the turns when your healer needs to keep the party upright.
- Don't Be Afraid to Run: If you find you aren't doing enough damage, you can flee, return to the base, and use the Death Card Machine to try for higher-tier cards (S or U) before trying again.
1. The Preparation Phase (Talent Development)
- The Core Team: Build 4 characters using U-Rank (or S-Rank) cards. Aim for a balanced party: 1 Sport (Physical), 1 Intelligence (Magic), and 2 Variety (Support/Healer).
-
Mandatory Skill Loadout:
- Variety Support: Fighting Spirit (Revive) and Absorb Focus (MP restoration).
- Tank/Lead:Sacrifice (Protect party) and Wind Barrier (Damage mitigation).
- DPS: Awaken Poison (Crucial for high-HP bosses) and Ultra Defense (Immunity to Confuse status).
2. Tactical Combat Strategies
- The Sacrifice Loop: Keep your Tank in the leftmost slot with Sacrifice active. Your Healer should sit in the back to avoid AOE damage.
- Focus Management: Never run dry. Use Absorb Focus regularly. If you run out of Focus, you lose your ability to heal/revive, leading to a quick wipe.
- Trash Mob Handling: Don't play hero. If an encounter isn't necessary for EXP or loot, use the Run command. Save your HP/MP for the floor bosses.
- Boss Killers: For the tanky bosses on Floors 50, 75, and 100, use Awaken Poison on turn one. This will shred their health bar while you focus on staying alive with your defensive buffs.
3. The Progression Loop
- Checkpoints: Always use the Elevators every 5 floors. If you die without reaching an elevator, you lose progress.
- The Floor 100 Milestone: Clear the final boss and select "Clear save data" to unlock the true secret boss.
- Save Scumming (Optional): If a critical party member dies and your healer can't revive them, you can force-close the game to reset to your last elevator save.
Hidden Boss: Monokuma V3 (Tactical Guide)
- The Core Threat: The boss always crits on normal attacks, and his "Wind Jet All" or "Summer Rain Fist" can instantly kill party members.
- Status Immunity (Vital): Use Ultra Defense (Level 10) on your healer/supports at all times. This prevents the "Confuse" status, which is the #1 cause of failure because your party will kill each other.
- The "Healer-Only" Defense Loop: If your party is getting wiped, shift to a defensive stall. Have your healer spam Ultra Defense and nothing else. If everyone else dies, your healer is protected from confusion and can revive the team one by one.
-
Required Skills:
- Wind Barrier: Negates the damage from "Wind Jet All."
- Fighting Spirit (Level 10): Essential for reviving fallen teammates.
- Cure Condition: For when things go wrong despite your resistances.
- Dps Phase: Use Awaken Poison at the start of the fight. It will tick for significant damage while you focus 100% of your attention on survival and buffs.
1. The Progression Loop
- Rank Up the Machine: The Death Card Machine's odds for U-Rank cards improve every time you defeat a boss (every 10 floors) in the Monokuma's Test dungeon. Do not waste massive amounts of coins until you've at least hit Floor 51+.
- Farm Monocoins: Your primary currency for the machine. The best way to farm these is by running higher floors in the dungeon. Once you can clear Floor 50+ consistently, you will have a steady supply.
2. Efficient Hunting (High-Level Tactics)
- S & U Tickets: Don't rely solely on luck. These rare tickets can be found in treasure chests within Monokuma's Test. Keep an eye out for them—they provide a guaranteed random draw, which is the fastest way to fill in the missing gaps in your collection.
- The "Three-Card" Rule: You can only hold 3 cards per character. Keep your strongest ones and rotate out your weaker duplicates to keep the machine pool focused on new pulls.
3. The Completionist Checklist
- Targeted Farming: If you are missing a specific character's U-Rank, remember that you are at the mercy of the machine's random draw. Focus on clearing higher floors to maximize your U-Rank pull rate rather than farming coins on low-level floors.
- The "Final" Grind: Once you have cleared the Floor 100 hidden boss, you will have the maximum possible rank for the Death Card Machine. This is the optimal time to dump all your accumulated coins to finish off the remaining U-Rank cards.
