Context
The earned-trophy checkbox system was recently added to modernized guides, allowing users to mark trophies as earned and automatically collapse their descriptions. This made long trophy lists and DLC-heavy games much easier to navigate.
Problem
Without counters, users could hide earned trophies but had no clear way to see:
- How many trophies they had earned
- How many trophies remained
- How much progress they had in each DLC
- How close they were to the platinum
Different trophy-hunting styles (platinum only, free DLC only, full 100%) also weren’t fully reflected in the UI.
Solution
The checkbox system has been expanded with automatic progress counters, calculated entirely through global script logic:
- Platinum Progress Counter — shows earned vs total trophies for the base game.
- DLC Progress Counters — each DLC section shows earned vs total trophies for that specific chapter.
- Paid/Free DLC Support — DLC sections now include a
data-dlc-typeattribute, allowing filtering by paid or free content.
Why This Matters
These counters:
- Require no retroactive edits to existing guides
- Integrate directly with the earned-trophy checkbox system
- Respect all existing filters (trophy name, DLC name, tags, paid/free)
- Support multiple trophy-hunting styles (platinum only, free DLC only, 100%)
- Update instantly and persist between visits
Most importantly, this eliminates a major source of future pipeline friction. New guides automatically inherit the counters, and legacy guides gain them during modernization—without manually editing dozens of documents.
Architectural Impact
This update marks the transition into Final Architecture v3.x:
- Global components and logic
- Global progress counters
- Centralized data attributes
- Infinite scalability
- Zero retroactive structural updates
The modernization pipeline is now structurally future-proof.
Next Steps
With the architecture finalized, future work will focus on:
- Modernizing existing guides
- Creating new guides
- UX polish and readability
- Research and content accuracy
Structural work is complete; the focus now shifts to content and user experience.
